Magnetic Paint Review

February 8, 2010 by Sandy

Magnetic Paint

Magnetic Paint

I want to talk about this great idea for magnetic paint. I love the idea and think it can have so many uses.  We bought a can of it (quart) to use in the remodeling of my son’s basement bedroom.  Then I talked to a company and they offered to send me some to do a review on, which he did.  He told me to make sure I followed the directions carefully because that can make a big difference in the results you get.

My Thoughts on the Magnetic Paint

My son measured out the area that would allow for the 2 quarts of magnetic paint that we had.  I told him to read and carefully follow the directions.  He did and used several coats of the paint. He did use ALL of the paint which I was told was important and if you did not you might not have good “stickability”.  I was also informed that a special magnet called NEODYMIUM magnets were the best to use. I did not buy them, so that might be why I had problems.

It looks great!  He is thrilled with it.  But here are the issues.  The magnetic properties are VERY weak.  The picture of the hand kept sliding down.  I do plan to get some  of the magnets though and if that is the case and they stick good….this is FANTASTIC.  If not…then I would recommend that each thing that goes up has several magnetics to hold it. The magnets that you should use for it are called Neodymium magnets.

If you Plan to Use Magnetic Paint Remember:

1) Follow directions carefully and measure size of space. 25 sq ft per quart.  Use ALL of the paint in the can.

2) Buy the proper magnets.  Neodymium magnets

Peel and Stick Chalk Board.

I also reviewed this 4×4 foot piece of peel and stick Chalk board.  I was pleased with it.  It went up like wall paper. Try to smooth it out so that you don’t get air bubbles underneath. That was good.  The magnetic power was like that of the magnetic paint. If I used several magnets I could get a piece of paper to stay. If I used one…it was not strong enough. My guess is that the Neodymium magnets would work for this too.

It worked fine as a chalk board, and cleaned up better (as most chalk boards do) with a damp towel.

They also have dry erase peel and stick. Tip: Don’t try dry erase marker on your chalk board….it doesn’t wipe off. Don’t ask me how I know…oops!

This review has taken me several months to get up.  I have e-mailed my source several times stating I was finally getting the review up but did not hear back. So I am not going to have a giveaway with it because I can’t be sure he will respond.

Disclosure: I did purchase 1 quart of magnetic paint myself. I did also receive 1 quart and also the peel and stick chalk board to review.

Genesis Today Social Media Contest Whrrl Story!

January 27, 2010 by Sandy

I have updated my pictures from the last 2 days when I was in Austin Texas with Genesis Today.  I went there to be a judge for the Genesis of a Great Idea social Media contest.

Not only did we get to hear the presentations but we got educated by Dr. Rob and Dr. Lindsey on the superfruits and what they could do for us, how they are processed and how to use them to improve our health.  We got to ask questions (and I think we could have been there for HOURS asking Dr. Lindsey questions)

There were 5 finalist (2 were teams) that presented their ideas.  I will tell you what…they all were good plans and I was really impressed with their presentations.   I had thought it might be one or two really good ones that would stand out as a clear winner. But no….it wasn’t that way at all.  Thank goodness it wasn’t completely up to me, because my scores were so close, that I had ties.  We judged them on originality, presentation and marketability.  It was a 1-10 score.   We all did our own scores and then Genesis Today announced the winner at the dinner later that evening. We were dying to know who won. Probably not as much as the finalist were….but we knew it was going to be close.  You can check it out on my other blog Chat with Sandy blog.

CSN Stores Giveaway (so much to choose from!) *CLOSED*

January 18, 2010 by Sandy

CSN stores is an online store that makes shopping a breeze.  I have increased my online shopping this last year (I even did my black friday shopping online this year!) and I think many more of us will realize how easy it is to shop online. Many of these items also have free shipping. (who doesn’t love that?)

I have to admit that I kind of messed up this review and giveaway. The reason? Because my reviews don’t come up as fast as many sites do.  I got this Jewelry organizer in September and the review is just now coming up.  But guess what…? This has been discontinued from the store now…so I can’t give it away. (And I liked it)  BUT…what CSN Stores IS going to do is to let you have a $40 shopping spree on their site.

But you can pick out something like one of these cereal dispensers.  I have a double one and love it. Makes it easy and fun for the kids to get their own cereal. This one is $30.95.

I have one that looks just like this and love it!

I have one that looks just like this and love it!

Or you can find something in their large section of Storage items. This is an item similar to one I showed way back (except I used mine in the bathroom..but I love it between the washer/dryer if you have room.  This one is $42.95 but there is free shipping, so it would only cost you a couple of dollars.

This is a great solution for supplies!

They are highlighting mail boxes this month!  I have to admit that is not something that I think of very often, but how many of you have an old rusty yucky looking mailbox sitting outside your house right now? This might be the perfect time to pick out a new sharp looking one.

This one has Hummingbirds on it.

Qlubb.com & Review & Giveaway *CLOSED**

January 11, 2010 by Sandy

Qlubb is wanting Moms to Be Smart and Simplify! I sure agree with that. They are calling it: Smart Mom’s 2010 Resolution:Simplify
Since their site is free they are being fun and offering a giveaway…you will have to see below to find out what it is.
I really like Qlubb. What is it? It is your own online organizational club tool. It is simple and basic and easy to use.
1) Members list with contact information including pictures for each person.
2) Calendar that anyone can add information to
3) E-mail ability to your Qlubb members
4) Privacy from others getting into your Qlubb (password protected)
5) Pictures – All Qlubb members can upload pictures for all of you to see in the slide show
6) RSVP for events and automatic reminds for events
7) And it is FREE!

I am in a Tastecasting group and they were using the Qlubb to coordinate all the tastings. I loved it. They switched to something else and I don’t like it at all. I feel like I can’t find the information I am looking for and I have felt like I am out of the loop with the group now.
I set up a Qlubb for my Bunco group. There are 12 regular members and then we have about 7 or 8 subs, so this is perfect for us. We were always e-mailing each other and someone was always short an e-mail or two and would have to ask someone else to please forward the e-mail. This will solve that for us.
Check out the little video I did. Oh…the music will start just a second or two after it starts. It is a fun CD we play at Bunco to be crazy fun!

They have added some new features to Qlubb:
1) The ability to only email event participants (as opposed to the entire Qlubb.)
2) Event-less To-Do Lists.
3) HTML email. So now Qlubb reminders are easier to read and there is a opt-out link at the bottom of each.

To Win: Qlubb is offering a $10 Oriental Trading Post Gift Certificate to one lucky reader. (You can get a lot for $10 there)

Go to the Qlubb Demo and tell me 2 different reasons that Qlubb might be good for a goup you have or know of.   **Be sure to come back here and leave me a comment. Your e-mail needs to be either on your comment or easily accessible in your profile.

Campus Quilt Gift Certificate Winner!!

December 31, 2009 by Sandy

Congrats goes to Jill Kathan who won the $150 gift certificate to make her own quilt from the Campus Quilt Company.

If you didn’t win….don’t worry, you can still go and make your own quilt with your special memories.  It is a great gift idea too!  The karate studio that my son used to go to has one on their wall made from all their winning teams in competitions.  I just saw that the other day and thought how cool it looked on their wall.
