Rubbermaid Reveal Mop Review & Giveaway

Mopping made easier

I don’t know about you..but I don’t like to mop.  Rubbermaid has made this chore a little easier with the Reveal Mop. But as we organize, we need to clean. Our floors can get incredible dirty..even if they were clean before we started the job.

Here is a view of the new Rubbermaid Reveal  mop.  Please keep in mind that your mop will come already assembled if you purchase it in the store. It will come with 1 pad and only 1 refillable bottle.  (not 2)

I usually try to do my reviews on the same amount of info that I might have just walking into a store. I like to be “you” if that makes sense and not have all the info under my belt before I do the review. I want to feel fresh when I see the product. But sometimes like this…it can mess up my video a bit because I realize that I may mess up some of the info a bit.  But that is it… only 1 bottle, 1 pad and comes already put together when you buy it in the store.

Here are some “recipes” for cleaning solutions that Rubbermaid provided me with for you.
Cleaning Solution 1
2 Tablespoons ammonia
½ cup white vinegar
½ teaspoon of baby shampoo
Fill the rest with hot water
This solution works well on hardwood floors.

Cleaning Solution 2
2Tablespoons white vinegar
2-3 drops liquid soap
Fill the rest with hot water
This solution is perfect for glazed tiles, vinyl, soft tile, cement, brick, and laminate.

Cleaning Solution 3
2 Tablespoons baking soda
2-3 drops liquid soap
Fill the rest with hot water
This solution is great for unglazed tiles, marble, stone, and slate.

Cleaning Solution 4
1 Tablespoon white vinegar
1 Tablespoon vegetable oil
Fill the rest with hot water
This solution also works well on hardwood floors.

Please follow all manufacture recommendations when choosing products to clean your floor.

The pad is made out of microfibers that are ultra-thin. They are 1/100 the thickness of a strand of hair. (wow!) the wide pad reaches further into cracks and crevices to pick up 50% more dirt than sponge mops according to Rubbermaid. This pad also helps your floor to not only get cleaner, but helps them to dry faster.

PlanetSafe Planner Review

Do you LOVE sticky notes? ..Then you will LOVE this planner

This PlanetSafe planner is great for all those sticky notes (I used the large ones but the small ones could work great too) that we tend to leave ourselves all over the place. This is the combo weekly calendar and prioritizer.
This would also make an awesome Command Center for the family. Use it where it can be the most use for everyone. I mentioned it in my post about command centers for special needs families…but every family can use a command center – a central location where anyone and everyone can know what is happening in the family.

What I like about this is that anyone can easily add something to the list. What I ultimately did with this was to cut the calendar section off and I have that posted in our eating area. The kids didn’t really have the access in my office and it was not getting the use out of it that it is now.
We have the kids karate schedule (soon to add football schedule), my son’s work schedule and I added my exercise schedule. This is not very full right now with the 7 of us….give it another month and it will be a mess! LOL
BUT….what I love is how easy it is for everyone to see. We could have a full calendar up..but the squares are usually too small to fit all this in. The karate schedule and my exercise schedule stay the same. So my son just adds in his new work schedule each week and it works well.

This is the bottom prioritizing section. I really didn’t use it too much myself..but I know this can really come in handy for many people. I use a notebook and write out my list of my priorities.
But I can see this being of more use to many people …especially being able to use the sticky notes..than the top section. It is all just personal choice.

I already had my magnetic strip with my baskets on my wall…so it worked perfect to hold my sticky notes and dry erase markers for the PlanetSafe Planner. There is a wall tray that you can buy that goes below the planner, it is made of the same material as the planner. I would prefer a something a little more stable than that..such as this magnetic strip…but it could work out in a temporary location, so that you have a place to put your sticky notes and markers.

This model is the Sticky Note planner ( there are many more to choose from) and it runs $21.95.

A visual timer!

I walked past this booth when I was at the National Association of Professional Organizers several times and each time wanted to stop and see what it was all about.  I finally had time near the end of the conference and stopped…and was glad I did.

The Time Timer is a simple product that can be used in SO many different ways.  It is simply a timer. That is it.  But what makes it different is that it shows the time left in red.  Some reasons that might be good:

*Someone who is visually impaired might be able to see this when they can’t see a smaller timer.

*A very young child who can’t tell time yet…can get a visual idea of how much time is left

*A classroom of children

*A car full of kids wanting to know..”Are we there yet?”

*When you are exercising, reading or doing chores that you need a timer on for. So many great uses.

This is the 8″ size Time Timer.

The timer is silent. When we first put the AA battery in and moved the timer hand…there was no ticking…no humming…nothing.  I didn’t know it was working for sure until I saw that the hand had moved!

There is a switch on the back that you can turn on a tone when the alarm goes off ….or you can have that off. (We have to have it off because it reminds my one dog of the tone from our old electric fence. We can’t have digital watches in the house either! LOL)

The triplets have been using it for their 20 minutes of reading each morning. Of course they think it is cool so they are trying to find all kinds of things they can time!

It is a great tool and can be used in many many situations.

This Bed Pockets organizer one handy little bedside organizer!  I have been using it on my bedside since I did the review on it.  I know where the TV controller always is…I have a light up pen and tablet of paper ready to go. I think this is what sets this apart from other bedside organizers.  The frame is adjustable.  It is sturdy and it slides right under the mattress.  You can see in this picture of what is on my bed….the metal frame you are seeing is what is available to adjust the bedpockets up or down.  The “L” shape part is underneat the matttress…not under the box spring.

This can be completely hidden by your comforter.  When your bed is made…no one even knows it is there.

It comes in 2 colors (3rd color coming soon..but not out yet).

In Place File System by Peter Walsh

Papers need to be handled! Peter has an idea!

Handling paper clutter can be done in many different ways. That is why I do not recommend just one way to do it. People are wired different. A solution for one person..might not be the right thing for another.  ( I apologize..I should have taken all those things off the lid…they look really messy!)

This “in Place System” by Peter Walsh is interchangeable with his whole line. There are some great products and I love how they all work together!  You all know I love Peter Walsh and I’m a fan of his products.

I am using this portable file box (which you can purchase a pack of 6 at Office Max for $11.99.) in my family room. That is where I do most of my work with my laptop. So it is nice to have something portable and small…but yet has a great file system.

Do I like it….yes. My thoughts are this:

If I were designing it…I would have not used a cardboard box.(or if I used cardboard…I would make them in fun colors).  I would have done a plastic colorful box. But of course then you lose the price point. They also did a lot of research based on feedback and this is why they came up with that. So this might serve the majority better.

A Rolodex for Your Purse

I love an organized purse and this Card Cubby makes organizing all those gift cards, reward cards, library cards, etc… easy to find.  I know that I had a pile of them in my purse before…and what do you do each time you need one? Yes….you sort through them until you find the one you need. No more!!

The other thing I think is great…what a cool gift for Graduation or a Wedding?  What does everyone give now? Gift cards right? Wouldn’t it be neat to put your gift card in this to give to them?

What the heck is a Findini?

It is a cute little holder for your cell phone or ipod and glasses.  I recieved this to review and figured I could  use at my bedside.  I admit that I am still using another bedside organizer for my tv controller, magazine etc.  But…I really don’t have a place that I use my cell phone in it.  So the Findini would  have been perfect.

See the cute pattern?  My cell phone is in it.  My glasses were hanging from a hook on the bottom of it. The problem for me is this.  My mattress is a very thick pillow top bed.  This has a piece that slips underneath the mattress.  So when I put the Findini under my mattress it was way too low on the bed.  My reading glasses were almost touching the ground.  So for me it didn’t work and I was disappointed.

I tried it on my son’s bunk bed.  It worked great there.  He wears glasses and uses his cell phone as his alarm clock. So he was thrilled with it.

Here is the piece that you put under your mattress. There are two snaps on the back of the Findini and snaps on this piece. This is a sturdy plastic piece.

Here is another alternative. They also include just the snap piece and some sticky tape.  So I put it up on work station by my couch.  So does it work for me here….yes!! It is great for my cell phone.

Butler Bag Review & Giveaway *CLOSED*

Professional Organizers love the Butler Bag.

Why do Professional Organizers love the Butler Bag?  Well…I wanted to find out.  I had heard of them, I saw all the organizers in one of my NAPO local chapter meetings going ga-ga over one that someone had.  But I really didn’t have a desire to try one.  I think the biggest reason was because I sold the pouchee purse organizer, and I didn’t think I could use the pouchee and the Butler Bag together.

So when they called me from Butler bag and asked if I wanted to review one, I said …Sure. I told her that I sold the pouchees and I was curious to see if it would work.

Here is why the Butler Bag is different and special:

There is an organized section in the bottom of the purse.  It is removeable.  I had heard that the purse was very heavy. I don’t know if that was a “first edition” model or what, but this insert is not heavy at all.  The purse is a bigger purse that I picked out - The Day Croc and it isn’t any heavier than any other purse its size.

I would have liked there to have been a zipper pocket on the inside of the purse, so I did miss that.  There are two size pockets on the outside ends. I like that.

Here is the finished and full purse:

But guess what?  My pouchee worked! It is the light pink organizer with my checkbook and keys in it.  I had thought it would sit on top of everything, but it slide right down on the side of the organizer section. I fit my Card Cubby (dark thing to the right of the sunglasses) also fit down in there perfectly!!  Beside the pouchee is my little cosmetic bag that I keep all my little nick nacks in. It fit great.  I fit my camera, flip camera, multitool, gum, lipstick, stain remover stick and coupon organizer (slim black wallet looking thing that is behind the cameras at the back of the pic)

So my thoughts…I like it!  It’s not too heavy….I can fit my pouchee and card cubby and my other items.  It works.  The only thing is that I didn’t pick out a summer color. I picked out a dark brown. I would love to have a lighter fun color.  I think the only negative I could say would be that I would have liked to see a better color selection.

I think most of you who read my blog have come to realize that I love Peter Walsh.  So you can imagine how excited I was to watch this DVD and read the book when it came in the mail for me to review.  He breaks down the organizing and gets into your head to get to the root cause of your organizing problems. Plus who doesn’t love listening to his accent?

His book, It’s All Too Much, has been a great success….now he has that information on DVD form.  So many of us don’t have the time to read or find it is harder to digest  ”How To” information in book form.  Having someone do it for us makes it much easier.
