Organizing Junkie’s Book Review & Giveaway! *closed*
Clutter Rehab by Laura Wittmann

I love Laura! I’m an Organizing Junkie was the first organizing blog I ever saw when I first started looking at blogs. Her writing is fun, easy to understand and basic. But she gets things done. She is a highly respected organizer and I think the top organizing blog (at least that I know of) out there.
She wrote a book. Yee Haw! Guess what? Her book is fun, easy to understand and basic!
She gives you “101 tips and tricks” to help you organize your home and manage your time.
Here is a page from the table of contents.

Some of them are over a page, but generally speaking they are fast and easy tips. You might have several on a page. Considering I am working on clearing out all the winter clothes and completely going through the kids rooms right now … donation is a big word. I like her idea of having a “donation station”.

Some of her tips are so simple, yet many people just don’t think of them.

You can find this Clutter REHAB on Amazon and it is only $10.36! Great deal.

I would recommend this book for anyone wanting to decrease some of your clutter… just by using some smart and easy ideas. It would also make an awesome gift for a newly married couple, a messy teenager going off to college, your “messy” friend… but, there are so many neat little tips in the book, that you don’t have to even be a disorganized person, or a messy person, or have a house full of clutter to gain valuable insight and ideas from this book.
Being short little chapters geared towards one tip each, makes it a very easy read. Something you can pick up, read a few ideas and put it back down to get the kids off to school. More than likely you will pick it up and keep reading because it’s so fun to find new ideas to make your life easier.

Organizing Mission Monday Link Party – Week 26
Vacation!

Don’t you love them? Don’t we need them? I’m actually on one right now! I’ve gotten some awesome opportunities for our family to review some areas around Ohio.
Ford Media Fleet is providing us with some wheels!! We have a Lincoln MKT to drive for the week. Swaeeeett!

Our first stop was the Hocking Hills area in Southern Ohio. We went to the Hocking Hills Canopy Tours! I love ziplines! It was SO fun!! We all loved it! I’ll have a post on my Explore Ohio with Sandy blog within a week or two on all these adventures.

We went to Mammoth Cave in KY today and then got to stop and visit my son in Lexington, KY. That was a very short visit to see him at his new job as a buyer at the new CarMax they just built there. The caves are not part of my review, but we wanted to take the kids there to see them.
We stopped by home and will be heading for a day at our farm. We are going to be doing some fishing!
Then we are off to a three day fun package called Roar and Explore Adventure Getaway. It includes a day at the Columbus zoo, a day at Zoombezi Bay and COSI.
This will be an awesome vacation. I’ll be sharing videos and pictures later on my Explore Ohio with Sandy blog.
Check out my Featured Bloggers For This week!
Susan from Homeroad refinished this Ikea cart
Look at what she did to this cart! Just refinishing my table and painting my Ikea table were big deals to me. This is what her Ikea cart that she has had several years looked like.
Then she did all kinds of things to it. Not just sanding…. but she got to take out some aggression and pound it with a hammer to distress it (that would for sure distress me! lol). She also put some black tacks in it, nails in it, put on some hooks and handles…
Made a cool stencil for the top and it turned out like this!! Isn’t this awesome!!

You can see all her tricks and techniques on how to get this Ikea cart looking so fab on her post called Ikea Cart Re-Make.
Anna from Ask Anna- Cleaning your Blow Dryer
has some great techniques and ideas on cleaning some of those things you just don’t think about cleaning, or you aren’t sure about how to clean.
She took her little old hair dryer that looks so nice and clean
Until you looked at the filter/vent area. She used a little known secret of using dryer lint from her dryer to stick to the lint in the grates of her blow dryer to pull it out!

Look at the difference!!! It looks so clean.
She has some other great ideas that you can get the links on my going to my Organizing Mission Monday link party Week 25 to see her posts, or you can just check out her blog! This one is called Hair Dryer Trick but she also cleaned the front of her oven door with a homemade mixture I want to try, and several other good cleaning ideas.

Card Cubby – New Colors & Giveaway! (closed)
One more day before my dining room reveal! I’m excited to show you. But I’m going to be even more excited to show you my blog makeover. You might be seeing that REALLY soon too!!
Most of you know I love the Card Cubby. Enough that I began selling it in my store. I’m not one to sell a lot of things (although I do want to start doing eBay or something to sell some items we don’t need anymore as compared to donating absolutely everything like I usually do). I only sell the Card Cubby and pouchee purse organizer at this point because I have to really LOVE something in order to associate my name with it.
You can see a review of the Card Cubby here. But it is an index file for all those gift cards, store discount cards, library cards that you end up with. You can look under the letter “K” and actually find your Kohl’s Cash or under “S” for that Subway card that you accumulate points on when you buy something at Subway. I used to just have them all together and I would have to shuffle through the pile to find what I wanted.
I just got a couple new colors for the Card Cubby that I wanted to share. These are also awesome ways to give a gift card to a new grad, someone having a birthday or someone getting married. People get so many gift cards now a days for gifts. Wouldn’t they love to have this to organize them?
The Tooled Leatherette Card Cubby
The Silver Grey Croc Card Cubby
I also restocked my black Croc and Red Croc Card Cubby’s! You can find them in my Organize with Sandy Store.
Zebra Card Cubby
You can win this Zebra Card Cubby…. keep reading.

Susan from Home Road thinks outside the box! Love it!
She took this trivet, pot holder, carrier (not sure what the official name is) and created this! I mean really… who thinks of that? I love seeing organizing products created from items that aren’t intended for organizing.
You can see how she created this and some other great shots of it on her blog, Home Road – Funky Desk Top Organizer
Look what Amy from Gabriel’s Good Tidings made? Isn’t it cute?

The clothes pins are really cute too. Here is a better shot of those.

Protect-A-Bed Mattress Pad Review and Giveaway *CLOSED*
Mattress pads are something that I typically hate to spend money on, but it is one of those necessities. It seems it would be more fun to buy new sheets or a comforter, doesn’t it? But when you realize the reality of what can breed in our mattresses…you will realize a good mattress pad is well worth it!
I was sent this mattress pad to test out and I am happy to say I have been very pleased with it. We have been using it for a couple of months now and it is comfortable, no plastic wrinkly noises, no sweating (because it doesn’t breath) and even though I can’t see it..it is nice to not worry about the mites and bacteria. (Mites I know are around and I don’t want to think about them…but bed bugs I have never had and don’t ever plan on having!..uh ..yuk!)

This shows the Miracle Membrane which is described on their web site as “a new age air vapor porous barrier fabric, which is waterproof and protects mattresses from all liquids and bodily fluids.”

The top is a natural terry cloth fabric that keeps you cool in the summer and warm in the winter (who doesn’t love that?). I hope you can see the texture from this picture. It looks like a soft smooth robe.
It is hypoallergenic, prevents dust mites and bacteria from breeding in the mattress. It is recognized as a Class 1 Medical Device by the Food and Drug Administration.

It washes up great and one of the things I noticed right off the bat was that it fit our mattress! We have a large pillow top mattress (you can see where the pillow top starts through the fabric, so that is a tall mattress to cover and I have a hard time finding sheets to fit…but this fits great) The other wonderful thing about it is that it doesn’t “pop” off the corner of the bed everynight. Literally every morning my husbands corner of the bed had the sheets and mattress pad pulled off (I don’t know what he does over there every night when he sleeps….) but since we have had this mattress pad I have not had one time that has happened. I am 100% satisfied with this mattress pad and thrilled that they sent it to me to try out. (disclosure policy)
To Purchase Your Own: Go to Protect-A-Bed and order today.
To Win:
1) Go to Protect-A-Mattress and find the Bed Bug video. Watch it and tell me what can protect your mattress and really work to prevent Bed Bugs. Come back here and leave me a comment.
2) If your e-mail needs to be either on your comment or easily accessible in your profile
For Extra chances to Win:**Each of these HAS to have a separate comment written please. (I know its a pain, but other wise you won’t have as many chances if you don’t.)
1) Subscribe to my blog with the feeder or by e-mail. 5 extra chances.
2) Blog about this giveaway for 5 extra chances.
3) Follow me on Twitter
4) Follow me on Facebook
5) Follow me on Linked In

Walmart Remodel…in progress
The Walmart Remodel is in progress!
So what happens to a teenagers bedroom when you are in the process of remodeling, but things aren’t complete? It becomes a nightmare!! Read more
Remodel Your Teens Bedroom with Help from Walmart!
I have a new Contest going on at my Review site! Walmart gave me a $500 gift card in order to redo a teenagers bedroom with the line of products called Your Zone. But they also offered one of my readers a chance to do the same!! Is that cool or what? (I am sooooo excited about this contest!)
Go to my Review site and follow the rules to enter to win a $500 gift card from Walmart to be used to remodel your Teen’s (down to age 8) bedroom with Your Zone products.
Walmart $500 Bedroom Makeover Giveaway! *CLOSED*

Just one of the Cute products that Your Zone at Walmart have to offer.
I was lucky enough to be asked by Walmart to do this bedroom makeover and I am thrilled to be able to pass it onto you. They provided me with a $500 gift card to redo one of my teens rooms. I have to present a video of the finished product to them and they will feature it on their “Get Inspired” area of their web site.
Walmart has a great line of products for Teen bedrooms called Your Zone. These are all mix and match, very reasonable priced products that make it both easy and affordable to completely redo a bedroom for a price that most of us can handle. I know for me, bedrooms are lower on the list of priorities for spending much money on…so this was so much fun to do. They have a really cool tool on their site that lets your virtually design your room. We were able to use the make over section and Tim helped to figure out what he wanted in his room. (Of course I had to make sure I had some organizing features in it too…you will see when my video is complete.)
We have 5 children living in our 2,000 sq ft home. We are a little cramped…but its all good. We have had our two teenage boys sharing a bedroom. Tim 16 years old and Drew, 15 years old have had a set of bunk beds, two dressers and not much else in this 12×12 room (approximate). I discussed this project and the two of them made the decision. Tim was going to stay upstairs and have his room redone by Walmart. Drew was going to go to the basement and have an unfinished portion of the basement made into his “Man Cave” (as he has nick named it) So off we go. Stay tuned to my blog as I will have pictures of Drew’s basement transformation too.
I will soon have Tim’s room complete. We have his bed up and most everything purchased, walls painted and we are almost ready to go. Stay tuned for the completion video.
RULES TO WIN (Please follow if you want to be eligible to win)
To have a chance to win this $500 gift card from Walmart to be used to purchase Your Zone products to redo your teens bedroom..this is what you need to do. I am going to include a little younger than teen also. I have 8 year old triplets and they love the products. So since I do need to pick a cut off age, instead of going 12- years and older (this is really geared more for the 12-17 year age group)….I am going to go down to 8 years old (by August 20, 2009) and no older than 17 years old…be eligible for this giveaway. The winner will not be picked by a voting process because I want all of you to have a fair chance.
You must agree to spend the $500 to redo the bedroom if you win. I would like a before and after picture that I can post on my site.
THESE FIRST 3 HAVE TO BE DONE TO BE ELIGIBLE.
