Whether you play it indoors or outdoors, Simon says is a game loved by every kid. Everyone has played it at least once in their childhood, isn’t it? This game is a delight for a bunch of kids at a party, or maybe a sleepover. It not only is a fun activity for kids but can inculcate a better listening response in them. If you are still not sure how to get along with the game and give creative commands, we’re here to help.
In this post, we’ll tell you how exactly to play the game, how to be the Simon and the best of Simon says commands. We bet your kids as well as the kid within you will have a great time playing it. Let’s get started.
How To Play Simon Says
Simon says generally requires at least 3 people to play. The bigger the group is, the funnier the game will be. Anyone from the group can be decided as the Simon in the first turn. Simon and other group members stand facing each other. The Simon or the master gives commands to the other players which they have to follow. Let’s say, for example, “Clap your hands” or “jump thrice”. Looks easy right? Well, it isn’t.
Now comes the twist. Simon has to give his commands starting with “Simon says”. And if he doesn’t start his command with “Simon says”, the other players need not follow his/her commands. And if any player does follow the command, he is out of the game.
Okay, let’s understand it through an example. If Simon gives a command saying “Simon says clap your hands”, then the other players need to follow the command. But if the command is “clap your hands” without using the phrase “Simon says”, the command need not be followed. And by chance, if any of the players clap their hands on this command, the player is considered ‘out’.
The game continues until there’s only one player left at the end who has followed all the commands perfectly. He is the winner. And if no one is left at the end, Simon is the winner. He is the Simon in the next turn too.
We Can Summarize This in The Following Way
Role of Simon: To give the commands with or without saying “Simon says” at the beginning of the command to confuse the players.
Role of players: To follow the commands given by the Simon or master that start with the phrase “Simon says”
How To Be Simon in The Game
Initially, anyone from the group is chosen as Simon. And when the first turn is over, the last person left among the players who have followed every command properly is the winner and the Simon in the next turn. If no one is left among the players, the previous Simon becomes the Simon again in the next turn.
