Over the course of the pandemic, one thing became completely clear—our homes are our sanctuaries. People began moving to more wide open, rural areas to get out of cities. They began fixing up their homes to create more space. There was more time to organize. If you have been putting off organizing your home, there are a variety of ways to make room and clear your mind of all the clutter in the house. Wherever you live and whoever you live with, organizing will do you wonders. Below are some tips to organize your home, make it more comfortable, and clear your head to become as productive as ever.

Clean Out/Renovate the Garage

Whether you use your garage to park your cars, for storage, or as a man cave, cleaning it out or renovating to use the extra space will make a huge difference. If you don’t need to park your cars in the garage, organize the boxes and storage space. You can likely fit more in the garage or move your recreational room into the garage space. The bottom line is, if you aren’t properly using your garage space you are missing out on some great opportunities.

Use Your Attic

Do you have an attic? If you do, you may not even be using it. Putting boxes up in the attic will free up space and give you much more room to do what you need to do with the space. You probably have old documents, photos, and other keepsakes that you don’t want to get rid of but take up more space than necessary. Even further than the garage, your attic is a great storage place to put all the things you don’t need to look at all the time.

Add Another Room

When you simply don’t have enough room, adding on another room will help you get organized. Knock down a wall or two and begin building a new room. You might want to have some residential air conditioning to help you stay cool if you are doing the building yourself. With another room, you can create an office, make room for more storage, set up a recreational room, or convert the patio into an enclosed version, or make a guest room where you can put items you don’t have space for otherwise. Sometimes you just don’t have enough space, and you need it to properly organize what’s inside your home.

Make an Office Space

Whether you’re working from home or not, making an office will help you organize documents, computers, books, and more. Not only is an office a great space for organizing, you will be able to compartmentalize work from play. This is especially helpful when you work remotely, but even if you don’t, using an office to organize is the perfect way to make more room and clear your mind of all the clutter.

Get Rid of What You Don’t Need

You likely have a lot of things you don’t need. For instance, do you have too many shoes? A lot of clothing? Do you collect something that is starting to get out of control? Whatever it is, there are certain things you can get rid of. Not only will selling or giving away some of your belongings, but you will also clear your mind and have more space to better organize what you keep. Even if you feel like you don’t have anything to spare, take a look into what you have and try to get rid of whatever you can.

Organizing can feel overwhelming when you have a lot to do. That’s why you should take the time to get rid of stuff, put things in a storage space, make room for other things, and use your space more intuitively. If you use these tips, you will be able to organize your stuff and your life. You will be surprised about how much this has an impact on your life. It’s the best feeling to clear your home and your head of all the clutter. The most important thing is to use the space that you have to your advantage. Don’t allow your house to get the best of you. If you organize your home, you will organize your life.
