Do you still believe that your garage is a special place that never can be ordered? We have prepared some ideas for you that will help you to clear up all the clutter in the garage. To do so, you just will need some shelves, buy here some actuators or lifting system, and start turning your garage into a perfectly organized space.

Drop Down Shelves Will Provide Additional Storage Space

The very first thing we start with is the drop-down shelves. You can also be creative with your garage door and to give it a different and unique appearance you can use fence gate as well. Usually, there is a lot of space up there, and to use it, you need to climb a ladder or a chair. However, if you install a drop-down shelf just under the ceiling, you will be able to use that space, too.

  • Start with choosing a lifting system. Most likely, it shall be able to handle significant weights. Thus, check something powerful and resistant indeed.
  • Also, make sure that the system is delivered with all the fixation components. It will ensure that all the components are of proper quality and the system doesn’t fall on you.

To install such a shelf, fix a lifting system under the ceiling. Attach the shelf to the system. Now, with a push of a button, you can lower the shelf to arrange things there. One more push of a button and the shelf moves up.

With such a shelf, you don’t need to climb anywhere. There, you can store not only objects that you use rarely but objects that are constantly in use. It will help you to unclutter the garage and still store perfectly all the needed items.

What about the Ceiling?

On the garage ceiling, you definitely don’t store anything. And you don’t use it in any other way, too. What about turning it into nice storage space? Think about the items that you need to store like wood splitter if you want to get rid of those wood splitter rental and other maintenance tools as well. Where would you store them? If those items are for shelves, you can install drop-down shelves on the ceiling. The principle is the same as in the case of any drop-down shelf. However, in this case, there are several things to consider:

You need to be extra careful and buy top-quality lifting systems otherwise, they might collapse, and all the shelves content along with the shelves will fall on you;

Check that the shelves don’t obstruct the garage door. Install them in a place where they will not disturb.

If your items can be stored by hanging them on hooks, you can fix a nice hook system on the ceiling. Make it drop-down, too. For that, you will need 2 actuators to lift the system and lower it when needed.

Other than that, you can still use the standard storage ideas: shelves, a special storage wall, a vertical storage system, and similar. Don’t forget that to unclutter your garage indeed, you need to avoid storing anything on the floor. It creates that known messy look and doesn’t help with the organizing of your space at all. However now, with the new drop-down items, you might forget about storing things on the floor.
