The internet is loaded with information on any topic you could imagine. Anything from updates on your favorite celebrities to the fence gate designs is just a click away. Something so huge requires the best tools possible to get the most out of your internet experience. The most important tool for accessing the internet is your browser. There are many of them out there, but the best ones are simple and user-friendly.

Google Chrome is an excellent option, especially if you regularly use Gmail, Google Drive, or other Google-powered services. If you have a Chromebook, Google’s browser will already be available on your laptop. If you’re a Mac or a PC user, you can download Google Chrome in a few simple steps.

Download and Install Google Chrome on Your Laptop

Chrome is easily accessible for both laptops and mobile gadgets. If you do not already have it installed on your device, follow these instructions and see for yourself why it’s the most popular browser.

Google Chrome on Windows

Launch the browser you’re currently using and type “google.com/chrome” into the address bar at the top of the window. Look for the blue Download Chrome button and click on it to continue.

When you start the download, a popup will appear with different prompts depending on which browser you are using. Click Save or Save File. This will save the installer for Google Chrome into your files. Double click the installer to run it. Once you run the installer, it will begin to download the latest version of Chrome. When the download is complete, you’re good to go!

Google Chrome on Mac OS

Use your current browser to navigate to https://chromeenterprise.google/browser/download/#. Find the Chrome DMG Universal Installer for macOS and click the Download button. You’ll get a file named googlechrome.dmg at the top right corner of your screen. Open this file. Inside the file, you will find an icon representing Google Chrome. Drag this icon to your Applications folder. From there, you can make a copy of the link on your desktop for easy access. You can now use this icon to open Google Chrome!

Setting Google Chrome as the Default Browser

Now that you have downloaded and installed Chrome on your laptop, you may want to make it your default browser. Setting up Google Chrome as your default browser means it will automatically open any link you click anywhere.

To set Google Chrome as your default browser, you will have to launch it first. At the top right corner of the browser, click the three-dot icon in the top right corner and select Settings. There will be a section in settings labeled Default browser. In this section, click the Make default button on top. If there is no button, that means that you already made Google Chrome your default browser.

Google Chrome Compared to Other Browsers

Once you start using Chrome, you’ll find that it is simple and convenient to use. Browsers are all slightly different, so how does it hold up against other browsers? Chrome still tops the list of the best web browsers of 2021 for its clean-cut appearance and high customizability. Six out of ten people use Chrome to browse the internet, so you might as well see what the fuss is about.
