5 Super Easy and Affordable DIY Home Decor Ideas

0

Transforming your home doesn’t always mean breaking the bank – you can still just as easily and effectively give your space a new and refreshing look while sticking to a budget.

Here are eight of our favorite DIY decor ideas that are all super simple, super affordable, and super doable!

1. Out with the old, in with the new

We’ve all been guilty of letting a little clutter accumulate here and there, some more than others. This is your sign to finally embrace your inner Marie Kondo and get rid of anything that no longer sparks joy. You’ll be surprised at how free and refreshed you’ll feel after you’ve cleared up so much space.

Sometimes those old knick-knacks and quaint little accessories just aren’t cutting it anymore. It’s time to get with the times and bring in new decorations – new art, new lights, new covers, and more!

That’s not to say you have to overspend to replace everything you’ve tossed out. You can just as easily find new accessories to embellish your home with that won’t break the bank. There are lots of nifty finds at budget shops and thrift stores, you just have to be patient and keep an eye out for those jackpot pieces.

2. Mirror, mirror, on the wall

Hanging a mirror on the wall is an age-old trick to make any space look instantly bigger. Rectangle or square shaped mirrors ideally do the job, and for a little more umph, you can try to hang it on a wall that’s directly facing a window. This not only makes the room look and feel like it’s doubled in size, but it also brings the natural light in, giving the whole space a bright and beautiful glow.

You can take an existing mirror from your home and reposition it, but you also have the option to check out some antique shops for some unique and best of all, affordable mirrors! If you prefer to just revamp the mirrors you already have, you can try putting some little adornments alongside the mirror or paint the edges to give it a whole new look.

3. Prints and patterns galore

When decorating on a budget, the last thing on your mind is buying new furniture or making an above-ground pool. But there are tons of ways you can go about making everything look new without having to shoulder the costs of newly purchased items.

You can shop around or make your own brand new cushion covers to bring a new sense of style to the room. From fun textures to exciting patterns to different sizes, you give the place a whole new sense of life. Eventually you’ll find a combination that ties the whole space together, at which point you can then bask in the beauty of your refurbished home.

4. Go eco-friendly and elegant

Your empty bottles once filled to the brim with fancy wine and sparkling water offer a fantastic DIY decoration idea. And the best part about it is that it’s all environmentally friendly!

Use those empty glass bottles as a quirky vase for freshly picked flowers or as a unique candle holder, perfect for cozy evenings at home. You can even decorate the bottles with stickers or paint whichever way you wish.

5. Put a masterpiece on display

Hanging some art around the house not only gives the place extraordinary class, but it also makes everything look breathtakingly new. Give the room a new focal point with an art print, something that resonates with your own personal style. Whether it’s abstract wall art you like or some of the classics like Monet or Picasso, there’s sure to be something in store for you.

You can also splash some paint around yourself – coat your cabinets or walls with a whole new color to make the whole place feel new and exciting!
