How to Mow the Lawn Perfectly?

How to Mow the Lawn Perfectly

You must have noticed that even if you are using a mower to mow the lawn, you get uneven grass in your lawn. Have you ever wondered why this happens? Well, the answer lies in the deck of the mower.

Yes, sometimes when the deck of the zero-turn mower is not at level, then the mower unevenly cuts the grasses. To make this right, you need to keep the deck in your mower to the right level so that the cutting could take place in a good manner.

When we use the machine several times, the deck of the zero-turn mower automatically tilts a little bit that later causes the problem in cutting the grasses. So, in this guide, we will be discussing how we can keep the deck of the mower in the level so that it does not create more problems in mowing the lawn.

Level of Mower – Stationary

The first and foremost thing is to keep in mind that the level of the mower should be kept in a stationary position. So, you need to keep the zero-turn mower on ground level so that we can take every measurement accordingly.

We need to take the measurements from the ground to the level deck and the level also. If you do this correctly, then the level of the mower will be set perfectly.

Please keep in mind that the brake of the mower should always be engaged, otherwise, the brakes will stop working or will get jammed and will create more problems in mowing the lawn.

Pre-Measurement Steps

The next step is to define the pre-measurement steps and calibration so that the tires could feel equal and full pressure on them and move the machine. Also, make sure that the moving parts should be stopped after removing the spark plug wire because it can create more damage to the machine.

Measurements

The most important thing is to keep the measurements right so that all the things could fall in place. Before you start measuring the parts, there is one thing that you need to keep in mind that the height, rotation, and level of the deck should be measured from the ground level so the first thing is to keep the deck lower so that all the measurements can be taken perfectly.

Side by Side

The first thing that you need to keep in mind is that you need to check the side of the adjustment by side of the zero-turn mower. Rotate the blades of the mower to the side so that it does not come in between the measurements. Now, start measuring the height of the edge of the blade from the ground level and then repeat the same procedure for all the blades.

Once you have noted down the measurements, then find out the difference between the measurements of the height of the edges of the blades and verify if it is closer to 1/8 inches. If yes, then it is perfect but if not, then there is further adjustment needed. You need to repeat the steps till you get the difference near to 1/8 inches.

Adjustment of Blades

Now is the time for the adjustment of the blades. Measure the distance from the ground level to the blade that is close to the deck and verify if the difference is near to 1/8 inches and if yes, then no further adjustment needed.

Also, if you see that the brakes are not engaged or any body part is jammed, then you can apply some oil on that part and let it be that way for around one hour. The jamming will get clear, and you will be able to move those parts. Once all this is fixed, then your machine will be ready to cut the grass evenly.
